Applications are invited for a full-time position as a genetic counselor in the Division of Genetics and Genomics in the Department of Pediatrics at Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College. We are seeking an outstanding board-certified/board-eligible genetic counselor to join a clinical program directed toward the diagnosis and care of children and adults with genetic and biochemical disorders. A Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling is required and American Board of Genetic Counselors certification is preferred. Board eligible candidates will also be considered.
Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include providing counseling to families with children and who have genetic disorders. Counseling of adults who have genetic disorders is also provided in our division. Other duties include coordinating care with other medical specialties, facilitating genetic testing, educating pediatric residents, and serving as an educational resource for patients/families and staff.
Our Division of Genetics and Genomics consists of a clinical geneticist, two genetic counselors, a metabolic nutritionist, and a metabolic nurse.
