Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Visiting Researcher in Pharmacology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Visiting Researcher conducts specialized research using cellular and mouse models for evaluating efficacy of experimental drugs/ or experimental biologic therapeutics for treating cancer.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assists in the establishment of experimental protocols, performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and instrumentation. Those include, but are not limited to, molecular characterizations of oncogenic pathways and parameters in cellular models and in mice.
Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development. Evaluates existing procedures and proposes modifications or changes in order to keep the methodology and procedures current.
As assigned, performs various research and technical procedures. Those technical research and technical procedures include, but are not limited to, using CRISPR gene editing technology for cell and gene therapy development, research in mouse cancer models.
Assists with instructing, mentoring and training of graduate/undergraduate students and lab assistants as required.
Keep detailed records of procedures and experiments; may be required to compile data and present findings and results at laboratory meetings and/or national meetings.
Submits purchase recommendations, to supervisor, of equipment and supplies.
Assists the Principal Investigator with the preparation of grant applications. Prepares experimental data for publication and grant applications.
Maintains accurate records of laboratory notebooks and research activity. Reviews literature and prepares manuscripts and abstracts for submission.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Qualified candidate will have a master or equivalent degree in medicine or biomedical sciences or related disciplines.
Background in molecular biology, biochemistry or cellular biology is essential.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The candidate must be highly motivated with evidence of productivity.
Individual must also possess strong writing skills, be well organized and have the ability to think independently.
Background in cancer research, molecular biology research in both cellular and mouse models, and various molecular and cellular biology experimental expertise.
