Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Designs, develops, and implements:
Algorithms and computer software for automated rodent behavioral training and video analysis, omics-based data sets [high-throughput, massively parallel genomic/proteomic/clinical.] Implement pipelines to analyze and reconstruct microscopy images and large data sets of neurophysiology recordings.
Design and develop machine-learning techniques.
Data management and analysis and data visualization solutions that aid in the storage, investigation, and dissemination of large data sets.
Independent research projects, including design of research protocols and development of procedures for the collection, verification, and management of data.
Performs complex systems analysis of data and writes interpretative reports.

Evaluates commercial and academic bioinformatics software.
Â
Trains other researchers on the everyday use of analysis software and research databases.
Â
Assists with grant preparation and reporting of methods, data, and results.
Â
Solves practical problems relating to difficulties with equipment; suggests technical or procedural improvements in testing methods.

Preferred Qualifications
Education or experience in neuroscience, computer science, engineering, data science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
Analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Strong background in scientific computing/programming (Matlab, Python, R, C, etc.) and statistical analysis.
Strong written and oral communication skills, optimally including writing scientific manuscripts and presentations.
Detail-oriented and excellent record-keeping skills.
Ability to work well independently or as a team member and willing to train others in utilizing developed methodologies.
Strong background in either image analysis, computer vision, or machine learning is preferred.
Required Qualifications
Bachelorâ™s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field plus four years of experience; OR masterâ™s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field plus two years of experience; OR combined education and experience of nine years.

Salary Range
$53,000.00 - $96,200.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
