A Research Data Analyst position is immediately available in the Lab of Dr. Damini Jawaheer in the Division of Rheumatology. Our goal is to examine changes in the maternal transcriptome that occur during and after pregnancy – among healthy women and women with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) – to gain insight into how pregnancy induces the natural improvement of an incurable disease like RA. We are seeking highly motivated and creative candidates who have an interest in RNA-seq data analysis (coding and long non-coding RNAs), with a focus on pathway analysis, co-expression network analysis, variant calling and eQTL mapping.
The analyst will utilizes multiple quantitative and qualitative datasets from a variety of sources and interprets results using various techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining. Assists in the design, development and implementation of business solutions partnering with clients to identify analytical requirements. Compiles reports, charts, and tables based on established statistical methods.

Specific Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
Partners with clients to define requirements based on business objectives.
Administration
Develop standardized templates, policies, and procedures for internal and external reporting.
Designs and prepares documentation for qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
Development
Completes a variety of statistical analyses using appropriate data and software
Merges data from multiple sources in preparation for analysis.
Interprets results of analyses for use in reports and presentations
Performance
Completes data cleaning and organizes data files for analysis.
Reviews data and Identifies quality issues

Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistical genetics, or related field.
Prior working experience with statistical analytical concepts and methods.
Prior working experience writing custom scripts and using standard bioinformatics tools, packages, algorithms, and databases to analyze high-throughput genetic and genomic data.
Prior working experience with high-performance computing.
Prior working experience processing and analyzing bulk RNA-sequencing data (e.g., HISAT2, EdgeR, Samtools).
Prior working experience processing and analyzing single-cell RNA-sequencing data (e.g., Cell Ranger, Seurat).
Prior working experience in eQTL mapping (e.g, FastQTL, Matrix eQTL).
Prior working experience in dimensionality reduction, clustering, and network analysis (PCA, hierarchical clustering, WGCNA).
Prior working experience with pathway analysis (e.g., IPA, Enrichr, GAGE).
