The Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) Department and the College of Engineering at North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University (NCAT) invites applications for full-time a Assistant Professor (9-month tenure track) position with an anticipated starting date of August 13, 2023. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to establish and sustain a strong externally-funded research program in Industrial and Systems Engineering and produce an excellent record of scholarly publication; bring pedagogical skills to teach undergraduate and graduate courses; supervise MS and PhD theses; and provide service to the university and its units, to the state and regional community, as well as to the appropriate professional organizations.
We are specifically looking for candidates with strength in advanced manufacturing and advanced statistical methods with applications of big data analytics, AI, and Machine Learning in modeling complex (infrastructure) systems, simulation, and risk and reliability analysis. Candidates with strong research interest in these areas are encouraged to apply. Candidates are required to have strong skills and research interests in one or more of the following areas: advanced manufacturing (smart/digital manufacturing including system-level modeling and analysis, automation and process control; additive, nano and bio manufacturing; human-automation interaction and human-robot interaction; digital twins; Industry 4.0; and the security of cyber-physical industrial systems), statistical and probabilistic modeling, prognostic health management, big data integration (data fusion) of heterogenous data, data mining, data visualization and simulation, bioinformatics, and big data in manufacturing. Experience in data analytics (including heterogeneous longitudinal and time-event data), artificial intelligence, and machine learning with applications in cyber-physical systems, large smart infrastructure systems (such as energy, logistics, urban transit, etc.), and military applications is highly preferred.
The successful candidate will have an opportunity to participate in emerging research collaborations across campus on cyber security and resilience, energy and sustainability, healthcare applications, complex systems and networks, and data analytics with applications in cyber-physical systems or large infrastructure systems.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
North Carolina A & T State University is a public land grant university. The College of Engineering, with over 2,300 students, has ABET accredited B.S. programs in Architectural, Bioengineering, Biological, Civil, Chemical, Computer, Electrical, Industrial and Systems, and Mechanical Engineering, and a B.S. program in Computer Science accredited by the CAC Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org. The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is responsible for implementing and assessing its nationally ranked and accredited programs in Industrial and Systems Engineering. The department offers BS, MS, and PhD programs. The ISE department has approximately 130 undergraduate students and 60+ graduate students (MS and PhD). Requirements:
Earned doctorate in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely-related area by the anticipated date of appointment. An ability to contribute to the advanced manufacturing systems or data modeling and analysis of complex cyber physical (critical infrastructure) systems efforts within the department. At least one the degrees should be in Industrial Engineering or Systems Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering.
Preferred:
One plus years of teaching, research and service experience including but not limited to research proposal writing, technical journals/proceedings publications, and professional service for national agencies or international journals etc. Credentials on managing and analyzing large data using advance tools.
