Job Description Summary for researcher position
The researcher will be responsible for leading NIH-funded airway epithelial differentiation projects under the direct supervision of the PI, as well as acting as the Erle lab lead for a CFF-funded collaborative study advancing the delivery of novel genome editing enzymes. The researcher will participate in collaborative and interdisciplinary efforts to investigate airway epithelial reprogramming in asthma and to understand how differences in airway epithelial cell responses to IL-13 contribute to type 2-high asthma susceptibility and severity. The researcher will independently perform highly complex experiments including differentiation and culture of primary human bronchial epithelial cells, gene/genome editing of primary cells via CRISPR, perturbing gene expression by CRISPRi/a, massively parallel reporter assays of DNA/RNA elements, various functional studies, transcriptomics, and genomics. The researcher will also be training and providing supervision for other researchers including students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior research associates. The researcher will design, conduct, analyze, and interpret experiments and contribute to preparation of and writing manuscripts, progress reports, and grant applications.
Requirements: * Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five years of experience in the relevant specialization. * Specialists appointed at the Associate rank must possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization. * Specialists appointed at the full rank must possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization.
Appointees in the Specialist series will be expected to engage in specialized research, professional activities and do not have teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use their professional expertise to make scientific and scholarly contributions, and may participate in University and Public Service. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training.
