The Whipple lab investigates the causes and consequences of genomic imprinting in the brain using mouse models and in vitro neuron differentiation systems. There are open opportunities to work in project areas related to (i) mechanisms controlling imprinted gene expression, (ii) neuronal functions of imprinted non-coding RNAs, and (iii) new therapeutic opportunities for imprinted disorders. The postdoctoral candidate will work with the lab to develop a specific project that falls within these interests.
Our work balances hypothesis-driven research using established methods with exploratory research using new high-throughput methods. This enables us to test data driven models while remaining open to unexpected, paradigm-shifting discoveries.
A Ph.D. is required. Previous research experience in genomics/transcriptomics, neurobiology, or computational biology is recommended.
