Optimal development of the immune system requires defined environmental input in a spatiotemporally regulated manner. This fundamental process begins in utero in parallel to organogenesis. Numerous epidemiological data suggested that maternal environmental exposure during pregnancy, particularly infection, can shape the offspring's immunity in the long term. During this critical window, the mother also undergoes dramatic immunological changes to nurture and adapt to the semi-allograph fetus. The LIMmunity (Lab of Infant and Maternal Immunity) seeks to establish a mechanistic understanding of how maternal infection impacts offspring's long-term tissue immunity, and reciprocally, how maternal immunity adapt to physiological changes during pregnancy and lactation.

Two fully-funded postdoctoral or more senior research positions are available in the LIMmunity to study fundamental maternal-offspring immune crosstalk. The opportunities are ideal for a highly motivated scholar with a Ph.D. degree and research experience from, but not limited to, Immunology, Parasitology, Microbiology, Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, or related fields. Experiences with flow cytometry, confocal imaging, mouse model, and/or bioinformatics is a plus. We are excited by applicants who enjoy collaborative science and can bring new perspectives or approaches to our team. This position will be held within the Molecular Biology Department, an innovative, vibrant, and collaborative research environment with cutting-edge core facilities.
