The Puthenveedu laboratory is seeking a research laboratory technician to work with a group of scientists focusing on understanding the cellular basis of drug addiction. We are recruiting highly motivated individuals to join our collegial and productive team. As the selected candidate, you will provide general support and organization for projects that address fundamental questions about signaling pathways in neurons that contribute to pain management and opioid addiction.

• Perform basic administrative tasks such as maintain, order, receive and disseminate laboratory supplies, call in maintenance requests, maintain chemical and equipment inventories, waste management, and general lab organizational duties including inventory and record-keeping.
• Assist laboratory personnel in research techniques such as plasmid subcloning, cell culture, protein purification and binding studies, and generating primary cell cultures. 
• Assist in specific research projects addressing the cell biology of GPCR function.

• B.S. degree in a STEM discipline 
• Basic knowledge of molecular and cell biological techniques.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work with a team of scientists
• Familiarity with basic computer software, such as Microsoft Office, and electronic record keeping

In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

• Experience with culturing and manipulating primary cultured cells such as neurons or cardiac myocytes 
• Basic expertise in bioinformatics and coding
• Familiarity with lab safety in a biomedical field
