Seattle Children's Hospital is seeking a full-time genetic counselor to provide pediatric genetic counseling services for a diverse patient population within our Medical Genetics Department, which primarily includes Clinical Genetics Clinic and Genetic Counseling Clinic. Genetic Counselors at Seattle Children's are also imbedded in multidisciplinary clinics, including Cardiac Genetics, Epilepsy Genetics, Differences in Sex Development, Hearing Loss, Skeletal Health and others, where there is opportunity to specialize.

Our genetic counseling program at Seattle Children's is highly unique. Beyond our collaboration with geneticists in the traditional pediatric genetics model of care, we work in partnership with many specialties outside of our field and are independent providers for families referred to several of our multidisciplinary clinics, as well as our Genetic Counseling Clinic, to address a wide range of genetic counseling needs. Additionally, we work closely with our Genetics Nurses and with our Laboratory Genetic Counselors. Our genetic counselors are also involved in supervising genetic counseling student interns and meeting varied genetic education needs in our institution and community. The genetic counselor team is directly involved or responsible for process improvement projects.

Required Qualifications

-  Master of Science in Genetic Counseling or Human Genetics
-  Board-certified or Board-eligible by the American Board of Genetics Counseling (ABGC)
-  Experience as a pediatric genetic counselor strongly preferred
-  Genetic counselor licensure, or provisional licensure, granted by the state Department of Health, is required to work as a genetic counselor in the state of Washington
