The Department of Data Science seeks a Senior Scientist to direct all bioinformatics research and development efforts at??the Cancer Immunologic Data Commons (CIDC) at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). The Senior Scientist will work closely with the laboratories of Drs.Franziska Michor and Catherine Wu at DFCI as well as partners at Stanford University, MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai to develop novel algorithms and methods for the analysis of immuno-oncology clinical trial data as well as guide the use of existing immune-profiling tools for analyses. We are looking for exceptional candidates with strong computational biology, data analysis and communication skills.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) established the Cancer Immune Monitoring and Analysis Centers-Cancer Immunologic Data Commons (CIMAC-CIDC) Network as part of its Cancer Moonshot initiative, to maximize the potential of immunotherapy treatment for cancer. Four Cancer Immune Monitoring and Analysis Centers (CIMACs) and a Cancer Immunologic Data Commons (CIDC) form the CIMAC-CIDC Immuno-Oncology Biomarkers Network. The CIMACs and CIDC work with clinical trial investigators to design and perform studies using correlating biomarker and clinical data associated with biospecimens that are collected from NCI-sponsored clinical trials involving immunotherapy. The Partnership for Accelerating Cancer Therapies (PACT) works in collaboration with the CIMAC-CIDC Network to facilitate clinical testing of biomarkers in immunotherapy clinical trials.

Located at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, the CIDC Bioinformatics team is responsible for building the bioinformatics pipelines and computational algorithms for the CIMAC-CIDC Network???s data in order to provide integrated analysis both within and across trials and share developments to the larger immuno-oncology research community. The goal of the project is to enable systematic incorporation of biomarker studies in NCI-supported early immunotherapy clinical trials to better understand and predict which patients respond to certain immunotherapy treatments.

• PhD degree in bioinformatics or related field; 6+ years experience post education; At least one year experience managing direct reports.
• Able to effectively and independently manage complex projects in a time-sensitive environment.
• Excellent track record of scientific research showing evidence of both analytical excellence and ability to apply computational tools to address biological questions with depth, rigor, and creativity, as in peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations and patent filings.
• Strong quantitative (statistics, computer science) and programming (Python & R) skills
• Familiar with version control (Git) and code documentation (e.g., Rmarkdown, Jupyter notebook) for reproducible research
• Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Good knowledge of cancer genomics and immunology
• Experience with WES, RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and TCR/BCR-seq data analyses.
• Experience with workflow language such as Snakemake and nextflow.
• Strong interest in contributing to translational cancer research
