The Department of Life Sciences Core Education at UCLA is dedicated to broadening the life science horizons for a new generation of students from diverse backgrounds. We are a department of educators that teach Introductory Biology and Life Science Mathematics to the 13 different Life Science Majors at UCLA. We seek to recruit a outstanding instructor who shares our commitment to fostering student learning in an inclusive and equitable environment.
Lecturer to teach LS 7A and LS 7C with 100% Time Position Available: Fall 2022, Winter 2023, Spring 2023.
Primary role of position: Provide instruction in Life Sciences 7A: Cell and Molecular Biology and Life Sciences 7C: Physiology and Human Biology.
Duties per course include the following:
LIFE SCIENCE 7A: Cell and Molecular Biology
Course Outline: Introduction to basic principles of cell structure and cell biology, biochemistry, and molecular biology.
Student Preparation: None required
Grading: Letter grade, criterion-based grading
Textbook: How Life Works by Morris, J et al. 3e
LIFE SCIENCE 7C: Physiology and Human Biology
Course Outline: Organization of cells into tissues and organs, and principles of physiology of organ systems. Introduction to human genetics and genomics.
Student Preparation: Life Sciences 7B.
Grading: Letter grade, criterion-based grading
Textbook: How Life Works by Morris, J et al. 3e
Qualifications: Qualifications include a Ph.D. degree in Human Biology, Physiology, or a relevant Biological discipline; demonstrated experience in undergraduate teaching at the university level.
