Department OverviewA postdoctoral research position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Mu-Shui Dai, Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics and the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. The lab's major focus is on understanding how aberrant oncogenic and tumor suppressor pathways contribute to tumorigenesis, thereby providing a possible means to manipulate these pathways in cancer. We are particularly interested in the posttranslational regulation of the MYC and MDM2-p53 pathways as well as nucleolar factors critical for ribosome biogenesis. The lab discovered the novel role of the deubiquitinating enzyme USP36 (Sun et al, PNAS, 2015) and the SUMO-specific protease SENP1(Sun et al, PNAS, 2018) in controlling MYC turnover and activity.
