Function/Duties of Position
This position is for a junior software engineer in the Computational Biology Program at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).
As a software developer, you will develop large-scale analysis platforms to enable genomic, imaging, and clinical analysis applications. You will be developing and configuring services that are part of a system of distributed workflows and distributed relational and non-relational databases.
For this position, we are looking for engineers that are committed to open-source software and transparent sharing of information, enthusiastic about working in a team that finds quantitative insights in complex data, and an organized self-starter who enjoys creative freedom in solving computational challenges.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and extend analytics and data management applications
- Integrate bioinformatics tools into distributed workflows and user applications
- Develop tools for extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) of complex clinical and genomic data into distributed non-relational databases
- Follow standards for software development, including requirements, design, code, test, quality, configuration and release management processes, and project management
- Work with team members to build common code repository and continuous integration processes
- Provide documentation and user support allowing computational researchers across campus to access and re-use analysis tools
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's in relevant field
- Python experience

- Javascript experience
