Position Summary:

• Performs various research; including cancer genomics, signal transduction, epigenetics. DNA repair, high throughout drug screening, targeted therapy and development of cell based cancer models, clinical technical operations independently or as assigned, relating to investigatory activities of a laboratory, followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions.
• Participates in the development of performance standards, selection of methodology and instrumentation and coordination of the analytical, biochemical, physiology and instrumentation functions with the clinical and research areas to ensure conformance with the goals and objectives of the department.
• Initiated ground-breaking research focused on developing in vivo and in vitro models for Precision medicine and drug discovery using cutting edge gene editing techniques such as CRISPR. These models are used to understand the tumor biology of unique gene alterations and high-throughput drug screening for development of novel, targeted and combinational therapy.
• Actively involved in Precision Medicine Initiative (PMI); the goal is to design personalized treatment for cancer patients based on the genomic profiling of their tumors obtained through next generation sequencing (NGS).
• Familiarity with clinical sequencing platforms, including FoundationOne, and analysis of sequencing datasets.
• Mentoring undergraduates, graduate (PhD) students and postdocs in basic and translational cancer and research methodologies.
• Authoring, editing articles and managing publications and scientific journals.
• Writing, review and publishing of scientific and clinical reports, communicate scientific data through abstracts, posters and presentations at conferences and seminars.
• Conducts a continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, constantly evaluates existing procedures where required to keep methodology and procedures current.
• As requested, assists in the implementation of the programs and projects in special areas of interest to the department.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• Ph.D. Degree or equivalent in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Effective oral and communication skills. 
• Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
