A Research Scientist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Teresa Reyes in the Department of Pharmacology & Systems Physiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Studies in the lab seek to understand how early life environmental challenges can shape brain development, at the molecular, cellular, and behavioral levels. The lab uses multiple behavioral neuroscience techniques, including: gene expression analysis (e.g., RNAseq), immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy, coupled with extensive cognitive/behavioral assessments. The candidate will be provided with training in research areas with which they are less familiar, as well as professional development opportunities. Essential Functions

• Modify and adapt experimental protocols, techniques and procedures to specific project requirements.
• Design, coordinate and conduct experimental procedures.
• Data analysis.
• Prepare research results and written summaries of results in manuscript form for publications and in graphics form for presentation at research meetings and for grant proposals.
• Maintain and ensure compliance with regulatory protocols and records.
• Provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).
• Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.

Required Education

Ph.D in related field.

Required Experience

• The candidate should have four (4) years of experience in standard research skills, including standard molecular and cellular biology techniques as well as prior work with rodents.
• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and attentiveness to detail are required.
• They should also be able to lead projects and work cooperatively with others as well as communicate research results effectively.

Additional Qualifications Considered

• Experience in advanced molecular techniques (i.e.,RNA-Seq) and computational approaches is desired.
