The Ruzycki lab is seeking a research technician to join our efforts to probe novel gene expression regulatory mechanisms in retinal development and disease. We routinely utilize cutting edge molecular biology techniques (CUT&Tag, ATACseq, RNAseq, scRNAseq, etc) and traditional biochemistry to tackle these questions.
This position is responsible for assisting with laboratory duties in a research setting; performs routine tests with direction from the supervisor, manager or higher-level technician.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Previous molecular biology or biochemistry experience.
Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
Working knowledge of computer software.
High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
$15.30 - $20.48 / HourlyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
