Area of Specialization / Responsibilities: The BSL3 Specialist will be responsible for oversight of all activities in the BSL3. They will implement biosafety, security, and common laboratory standard operating procedures and processes in the BSL3. This person will also act as liaison with the UCSF High Containment Laboratory Oversight Group.The Lab Manager/BSL3 Specialist will also be involved in BSL3-relevant projects, including regular meetings with PIs/postdocs, transfer of samples into the BSL3 for culture, infection, and experimental perturbations, and downstream preparation of samples (e.g. droplet encapsulation or cell fixation) for project-specific assays, such as CyTOF and scRNAseq.
