The Department of Social Medicine at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/about/departments/social) invites applications for a full time, 11-month, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. Expertise can include, but is not limited to, infectious diseases, environmental health, and/or climate change. Primary faculty appointments will be in the Department of Social Medicine at the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, Cleveland campus (https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/research) with opportunities to collaborate with our preeminent healthcare system partners, including the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute's Department of Quantitative Health Sciences (https://www.lerner.ccf.org/qhs/) and OhioHealth Research Institute (https://www.ohiohealth.com/ohiohealth-research-and-innovation-institute). Research is expected to complement the strong basic, clinical and social science efforts of the 3 HCOM-affiliated research institutes: 1) The Diabetes Institute (https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/di) with focused efforts on treatment and management of diabetes and related chronic conditions; 2) the Infectious and Tropical Disease Institute (https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/itdi) with focused research on tropical disease, reproductive/sexual health, and bacterial pathogenesis; and 3) the Ohio Musculoskeletal & Neurological Institute (https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/omni/) whose mission is improving the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of musculoskeletal and neurological disorders with focused efforts on healthy aging, and pain and injury. All three institutes currently feature numerous federally funded scientists and welcome additional members that will establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program that produces innovative, high impact scholarly activity in population health/health disparities. In addition, applicants will have the opportunity to collaborate with Ohio University organizations, including the Ohio Alliance for Innovation and Population Health (https://www.ohio.edu/chsp/alliance) and the Global Health Initiative (https://www.ohio.edu/global-health) and the Appalachian Institute to Advance Health Equity Science (https://www.ohio.edu/chsp/advance). The successful candidate will enjoy protected time for research, with rich opportunities for participation in medical and graduate education programs. -Ph.D. required by 8/1/2022 in the areas of infectious diseases, environmental health, and/or climate change or other closely related fields.

-Teaching experience at the college/university level with a willingness to learn new technology platforms
