The Genomics High-Throughput Facility in the Department of Biological Chemistry welcomes applications for a specialist position for genomics and molecular testing. Depending upon experience and skill set, responsibilities could include working with clients in areas involving -omics based on high-throughput sequencing analysis. Examples of applications include gene expression, spatial transcriptomics, and single cell analysis. Responsibilities could also include high-throughput quantitative PCR and Illumina next generation sequencing-based assays for SARS-CoV-2 in human wastewater samples. In addition to conducting tests, the candidate will be responsible for regular calibration and maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment, placing orders to maintain reagent stocks, acting as the laboratory safety officer and depending on experience development of SOPs. Candidate will be responsible for analysis of molecular test data, storage, and communicating records of molecular tests. The position requires basic knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, genomics biology, molecular methods and basic statistics. Candidates are expected to have had at least two years of laboratory experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel is required. Programming skills, particular Python or R is advantageous.
Applicants must have earned at least a BS degree in a STEM field.
Salary is commensurate with training and experience. The initial appointment will be for six months.
