Our group in the Anderson Lab at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking a motivated and talented scientist who will contribute to discovery and translational research in the areas of cancer biology, with expertise in molecular biology, cancer immunology and immunotherapy. Our laboratory efforts focus on translational research in multiple myeloma. We avail of a large dataset of transcriptomic profiling of myeloma patients and well-established in vitro and in vivo models of multiple myeloma. We characterize factors in the marrow microenvironment which allow tumor cell homing, growth and resistance to apoptosis in order to devise therapies which interrupt these processes. Our efforts are specifically directed to delineate mechanisms for enhancing allogeneic and autologous immunity to myeloma cells in order to derive novel immune targets and immunotherapeutic approaches.

The postdoctoral fellow will be affiliated with the Department of Medical Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School.

The successful candidate will perform research on discovery and translational science to interface clinical development for treatment of cancer patients. We expect that the immunotherapy approach for human clinical investigation will emerge from these efforts through our collaborations.

The major focus of this specific position will include the development and execution of biological assays, interpretation of results, analysis of data and support of further research activities. ??The candidate will be involved in projects directed at the identification of novel immune targets for the treatment of multiple myeloma. The candidate will be responsible for the scientific planning and execution of the study; as well as optimization of novel protocols, the interpretation of results, troubleshooting, analysis of data and support of further research activities.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• a Ph.D. in biological sciences; MD or MD/PhD
• Experience or knowledge in genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics will be a plus.
• a strong background in immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology and cell biology
• excellent oral and written communication skills
• the ability to perform both self-directed and guided research
• the ability to effectively work as part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists
