The Research Informatics Operations (RIO) team is looking for an enthusiastic Informatics Analyst to join the Customer Experience team in supporting the information system needs of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) clinical research community. The mission of the Customer Experience team is to support the operations of the clinical trials program at Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, including but not limited to clinical trial management, grant development, intellectual property management, and biospecimen banking.??
The Informatics Analyst will manage the data request and delivery process for investigators seeking to obtain clinical and genomics data for research projects. They will help define requests, develop cohorts, obtain governance group approval, develop analytics, and provide education for the Dana-Farber research community.?? The Informatics Analyst will work collaboratively with other Informatics technical and operations staff to ensure efficient delivery of a data, and development of data and analytic tools to enable easier access to a wide variety of research data. The Informatics Analyst will be responsible for customer support, data quality assurance and compliance with DFCI data release policies.??They will utilize various vendor and in-house developed systems, including enterprise-wide systems, to meet the changing needs of the scientific and clinical research community. ??The Informatics Analyst will also support day-to-day usage of RIO applications and provide education on system workflows and functionality.
RIO is a subdivision of the DFCI Research Informatics and Analytics department led by the Chief Health Information Officer.??? RIO is a significant component of the Clinical Research Support Unit for the DF/HCC consortium. The DF/HCC is comprised of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women???s Hospital, Boston Children???s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health. RIO supports clinical trials research informatics systems for the DF/HCC member institutions with regards to oncology research.??

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide a high level of customer support to DFCI stakeholders, including study teams, clinicians, investigators, and others by either resolving issues or facilitating connection with appropriate resources. Work with Informatics and other cross-functional teams to provide outstanding customer support.
- Meet with customers to understand and interpret research data needs, gather requirements, document feature requests, conduct workflow analysis, and obtain feedback on the user experience
- Manage the research data request and delivery process from inception to completion, including team communication, timelines, signoffs, scope changes, etc.
- Assists with generation of data sets using SQL, BusinessObjects and other data analysis tools
- Develop functional requirements for new data types and features
- Educate users on the data request process and data governance. Develop training materials such as content for eLearning and other end-user documentation.
- Serve as an exemplary representative of RIO. Responsible for maintaining on-going communication. Feedback and follow-through with customers/peers is essential.
- Build strong relationships with the Research Informatics Operations customer base
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for available clinical and genomic data as well as the Research Data Request and Generation processes and provides user assistance, as necessary in these areas
- Work with other informatics groups to ensure the quality of the data
- Work with senior research leadership, Informatics leadership and all levels of informatics staff to improve all aspects of the data request process through process re-engineering and software enhancements
- Communicate status of projects to customers and informatics management to ensure they are informed about progress and obstacles
- Responsible for the security and confidentiality of private clinical and financial information
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor???s degree required. Concentration in Computer Science, Business, Data Analytics, Information Technology, Healthcare, Bioinformatics, Biology or other relevant healthcare or life sciences related field preferred; background in a health care and/or clinical trials preferred.
- Proven analytical, systems design and technical project management skills
- 1-3 years of direct analytical work experience as an informatics, business or applications analyst, or data manager, in an academic and/or healthcare setting preferred.
- Clinical research and/or clinical trials data management preferred
- Formal business analyst and/or project management training a plus
- Proficient in complete MS Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements

- Proven skills in data analysis using SQL and experience with data analysis and visualization software, including??BusinessObjects, Tableau or PowerBI tools preferred
- Experience performing data analysis in clinical research analyses and visualization work in a healthcare setting required preferred
- Ability to handle confidential material with maturity, sensitivity and discretion
- Knowledge of data housed in electronic medical records, cancer registries, and other healthcare systems as well as medical terminologies, controlled vocabularies, ontologies, HIPAA regulations and industry standards, preferred.??
- Knowledge of Oncology data and related areas preferred
