The Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University (OSU) Wexner Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Professor to join the current faculty and directors in the Cytogenetics and Molecular Pathology Laboratories.  The candidate must have a PhD in molecular genetics, molecular biology or a related specialty and be certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in the areas of Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics and/or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics. 

Responsibilities will include conventional chromosome analysis and FISH sign-out with some molecular genetic case sign-out based on background and experience, developing cytogenetic and genomic assays, participation in genomic research and involvement in teaching trainees.  The successful candidate will also be responsible for implementing quality improvement measures and maintaining College of American Pathologist (CAP) compliance. Additional opportunities to conduct clinical and/or translational research in genomics and precision medicine are available.   Compensation is commensurate with academic record and experience.

The Division of Molecular Pathology oversees the cytogenetics and molecular laboratories for the James Cancer Hospital/Solove Research Institute and participates in many translational research programs of the NCI-designated OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Wexner Medical Center (a 923-bed tertiary care hospital).  The Cytogenetics and Molecular Laboratories are housed in a state-of-the art facility and are equipped with the latest and most advanced technology that support a full menu of primarily oncology focused genetic testing.  

Required Qualifications: PhD or MD/PhD in molecular genetics or molecular biology or a related specialty and certified or board-eligible by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in the areas of Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics and/or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics.
