The Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention, Program in Public Health at the University of California-Irvine seeks an Assistant Specialist for conducting studies to determine the impact of environmental modifications and control measures on malaria vector ecology and epidemiology, and genetics of insecticide resistance in mosquito vectors.
We are seeking to hire a highly motivated, dedicated individual who has excellent project management and molecular genetics skills. Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, or other senior lab personnel, the incumbent may perform tasks including but not limited to:
Applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree emphasis in biological sciences, public health, or other related fields. Candidates should have previous experience experience in vector biology or molecular biology (1-year minimum) and prior laboratory management experience is highly desired (1-year minimum). Applicants should possess solid organizational and time management skills and have ability to work in a team environment with ever-changing priorities. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
