The laboratory of Catherine Tcheandjieu, DVM, PhD, is seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow with background in biostatistics, bioinformatics, or molecular epidemiology to join her research program at the Gladstone Institute of Data Science and Biotechnology at Gladstone Institutes, and the department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at UC San Francisco. A major emphasis of our research program is using genomics to make discoveries in underrepresented populations, including those of African ancestries and Latino/Hispanic populations. 

The successful applicant will be immersed in cutting-edge population genetic and molecular epidemiology studies of complex traits and diseases using large-scale population biobanks, such as the Million Veteran Program and the UK Biobank, and will develop methods for disease risk prediction such as polygenic risk scores. They will have a unique opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment which includes computational biologists, biostatisticians, and experimental biologists. The new member of our team will also have opportunities for methods development, technical writing of grant applications and manuscripts, travel to conferences, meeting presentations and further training to develop their expertise and skill sets. We encourage our postdoctoral fellows to develop and explore their own research questions.

Required Qualifications: 

• MD or PhD with experience in bioinformatics, statistics, or molecular epidemiology (or similar quantitative fields). 

• Experience with analysis of sequence data, large biological datasets using R, Python, bash, or equivalent.

• Experience in statistical genetics or incorporating various biological data types is a plus.
