The Department of Medicine, Division of Genetics at the University of Rochester is seeking to fill a full-time clinical Genetic Counselor position in Adult General Genetics. The University of Rochester is a major genetics service provider in upstate New York. Our highly successful and active primary clinical programs include our General Genetics clinic and Cardiogenetics clinic. There are a number of allied programs in neurogenetics, cancer genetics, pediatric genetics, ocular genetics, prenatal and reproductive genetics as well. We also have laboratory services in cytogenetics and cytogenomics, biochemical genetics and molecular genetics.

Successful candidates are expected to share the clinical responsibilities of the Division of Genetics with another genetic counselor and medical geneticist, as well as collaborate with other counselors and genetics providers in the allied programs. The Division of Genetics provides diagnostic genetic evaluations for adult patients for a variety of genetic conditions including, but not limited to, cardiovascular conditions, hereditary connective tissue disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, hearing loss, kidney disorders, and specific hereditary cancer syndromes. The position also includes teaching opportunities involving residents, medical students, and genetic counseling students.
