The Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics of the Indiana University School of Medicine is recruiting an ABMGG Board-certified PhD to join the faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical and Molecular Genetics and assist in direction of the newly established Genomics Laboratory supporting high-throughput clinical diagnostic testing. We are soliciting applications from outstanding candidates with demonstrated experience in laboratory diagnostics and research utilizing a variety of molecular genetic methods and high-throughput sequencing. 

The Genomics laboratory is one of the IU Genetic Testing Laboratories of the Division of Diagnostic Genomics. Additionally, the individual will co-lead the department's Undiagnosed Rare Disease clinic (URDC), serving as the Genomics Leader of the URDC. The goal of this position is to firmly establish protocols and procedures for variant identification and genomic evaluation of genetic disorders and to establish a vibrant clinical enterprise that also facilitates translational discovery.

Other responsibilities will include:

· Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Genomics Laboratory

· Participate in the sign out of sequencing cases, ensuring all technical steps are completed appropriately.

· Assist with compliance of federal and state requirements for clinical testing and maintaining CLIA-certification and CAP-accreditation.

· Co-lead the Medical Genetics Genome Board

· Lead/assist with research projects that report new gene discovery, variant reclassification and other Genomic laboratory and URDC-related research projects and lead or contribute to publications.

· Provide expertise and assistance to laboratory/division staff to resolve diagnostic testing issues.

In addition, the individual will participate in our ACGME-accredited Laboratory Genetics and Genomics fellowship training program and in training residents and graduate students as part of the departmental teaching mission.
