The Staff Research Associate 2 (SRA 2) will be under direct supervision of Dr. James Koh, Director of the Endocrine Neoplasia Lab, and Jessica Foft, Sr. Clinical Research Coordinator in the the Department of Surgery at the University of California at San Francisco.
The SRA will provide technical research support PIs in the UCSF Endocrine Surgery and Oncology program in the areas of endocrine cancer biology and experimental therapeutics. The laboratory will employ a wide array of cellular, molecular, live-cell imaging, and animal modeling approaches in translational studies using human and animal tissues as well as in-vivo experimentation. The responsibilities include: ordering of supplies and maintaining inventory; aseptic isolation of cells from human and murine tissue for primary cell culture and cell line derivation; tissue processing, including sectioning and immunostaining; photomicroscopy and image analysis; analysis of gene expression using real-time PCR; protein analysis; assisting with small animal surgeries; and other duties as assigned. Keeping careful laboratory records, maintaining laboratory equipment, and supporting postdoctoral fellows in a variety of collaborative projects within the lab are critical expectations. The incumbent will be expected to allocate time towards performing literature reviews, attending lab and journal club meetings, and preparing summaries of experiments to present during these meetings. The incumbent will be expected to have the ability to commit to position for a minimum of two years. The findings will have direct translational impact on current and future clinical trials using immunotherapy for patients with endocrine disorders.
