Job Description:
Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to support a large genomics lab helping drive multifaceted investigations of genetic variation on host-pathogen interactions and immune system regulation. The bioinformatician would support cutting edge genomics and bioinformatic analyses continuing to develop a suite of programs developed in the Bailey lab as well as standard genomics pipelines for the analysis of variation and expression. The bioinformatician will work closely with Dr. Bailey and senior personnel in the lab supporting and developing projects with collaborators world-wide.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 5/31/2024, which may be extended based upon available funding.
Education and Experience:
Bioinformatician, Grade 9:
Required: Bachelor's Degree in bioinformatics or computational biology with 1-2 years programming experience preferably in bioinformatics with genomic sequence-based analyses and/or equivalent combination of education and experience (Grade 9).
Experience with genome variation pipelines and single cell RNA seq or other omics analyses preferred.
Experience with machine learning is preferred.Â
Senior Bioinformatician, Grade 10:
Required: Bachelor's Degree in bioinformatics or computational biology with 3-5 years programming experience preferably in bioinformatics with genomic sequence-based analyses and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: PhD in bioinformatics or computational biology with 2 years programming experience
Job Competencies:
Fluency in programming language(s) (Python C++)Â as well as skills in R. Ability to build packages and manage software projects.Â
