The Carpten Lab in the Department of Translational Genomics is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar â Research Associate to become part of the team.
The successful applicant will be expected to carry out innovative and insightful investigations in translational cancer research. Responsibilities include but are not limited to leading independent data analyses and multi-cohort consortia analyses on a large, funded Precision Oncology study in colorectal cancer and/or other cancers, assisting with study management and coordination, submitting abstracts to and presenting research findings at national scientific meetings, and manuscript and proposal writing in collaboration with principal investigators. The ability to work independently, to proactively seek guidance when needed, and generate his/her own line of research aligned with the labâs research goals is essential.
Specific responsibilities will include the following:
Leads and coordinates a large Precision Oncology study in colorectal and/or other cancers
Generates scientific hypotheses and conducts data analysis from start to finish
Works independently with minimal supervision
Writes manuscripts of completed work
Contributes intellectually to scientific goals
Possess a Ph.D. or be close to the completion of a Ph.D. in the areas of Biology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, and other related fields related to cancer research.
Competence in molecular biology techniques including but not limited to PCR, tissue culture, next-generation sequencing, genomics, and epigenomics assays.
Experience in analyzing and annotating large omics data sets, both in exploratory and pipelined fashions, is a plus
The candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be a team player. Good work ethics and commitment are necessary for a successful postdoctoral tenure in the lab.

Minimum Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within previous five yearsMinimum Experience: 0-1 yearMinimum Field of Expertise: Directly related education in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods. Strong background in computer programming, mathematical modeling is required.
