The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is seeking a full-time Technician B to join the Head and Neck Cancer Laboratory at CUIMC and to participate in innovative head and neck cancer genomics research, focusing on the role of tumor heterogeneity in tumor biology, treatment resistance, and novel therapeutics. Candidates with prior experience in molecular biology are preferred, and we are ideally seeking a 2-3 year commitment.
This position will report to Principal Investigators Anuraag Parikh, MD; Hiroshi Nakagawa, MD PhD; and Anil Rustgi, MD
Collecting, processing, and preparing human tumor samples for single cell sequencing analyses
Tissue culture and generation of tumor organoids and cell lines
Basic cloning (RNAi, CRISPR) and virus preparation
Functional experiments using Matrigel, proliferation assays, and other in vitro assays
Biochemical analyses using western blot, qPCR, and co-IP
Sectioning of tissue samples using a cryostat and staining with H&E and immunohistochemistry
Researching and recommending new methods and procedures to maintain current capabilities, quality, and standards
Developing procedure manuals and operational/technical guidelines for lab studies
Maintaining a lab notebook or records related to tasks
Attending and participating in weekly lab meetings
Managing IRB protocols and consenting patients
Assisting in preparation of manuscripts that result from work performed
Bachelor???s degree in biology, chemistry, physics, or related science, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Prior experience as a technician or working in research for 2 years, or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 7 years (ideally prior research experience includes molecular biology experience)
Very strong communication skills and excellent team player
Comfortable working independently with daily guidance
Willing to be flexible with hours 1-2 days per week to accommodate sample collection from the OR (if necessary)
