The Research Assistant Professor should have strong interest in and commitment to engage in collaborative research in cancer and genomics and to conduct independent methodological research at a level commensurate with the research track. This 12-month full-time position is open at the Assistant Professor rank with a primary appointment in the Department of Biostatistics and a secondary appointment in the LCCC. The faculty member will be a member of the LCCC Biostatistics Core and will collaborate with basic science, translational, and clinical researchers at Lineberger. The faculty member is also expected to be active in mentoring graduate students and be involved in service in the Department of Biostatistics. This position does not require teaching, although it is welcomed and encouraged.
Education and Experience:
A strong commitment to and demonstrated potential for methodological and collaborative research in cancer research and genomics. Areas of expertise in genomics can span but may not be limited to bulk and single-cell RNA-seq, epigenomics (ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, methylation), spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and DNA-seq. Exposure to clinical trials, machine learning methods, and data science tools is also desired. The applicant must have excellent communication skills.
