Job Description:

• Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information.
• Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research.
• Creates first drafts for scientific writing and publications, including protocols and grants.
• Trains and mentors laboratory personnel.
• Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

• Doctoral degree in Evolutionary, Functional, and Community Ecology, and Community Ecology.

Experience:

• Experience with modeling and theory in Ecology & Epidemiology
• Extensive knowledge of malaria epidemiology, population genetics of Plasmodium falciparum, and molecular biology of the parasite (including the multigene family know as var in this parasite).

Preferred Competencies

• Strong programming skills in Python, Julia or C++, R, and Shell
• Extensive skills and knowledge in next generation sequencing data analysis
• Strong skills in using geographic information system software (ArcGIS)
• Strong oral and written communications skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a research team
• Careful attention to detail
• Ability to multitask
• Ability to set and keep deadlines

Working Conditions

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
