The Rockefeller University seeks a Natural Product Bioinformatics Specialist II to join Laboratory of Genetically Encoded Small Molecules. The Natural Product Bioinformatics Specialist will support natural product biosynthetic gene cluster-focused research using technical knowledge of software, software development, networking, and hardware in a complex computing environment. Will work collaboratively with the Primary Investigator to determine the most suitable computational methods to be used in the research. Responsibilities include independently performing procedures requiring application of professional judgment, interpreting experimental results and determining whether they are consistent with experimental goals, preparing research reports for presentations or publications, developing and executing complex computational analysis of sequenced biosynthetic gene clusters, upkeep and administration of complex databases, and maintaining resolution of hardware, software, and/or network problems in support of the lab.

Ph.D. in science required; background in biosynthetic gene clusters and experience analyzing natural product biosynthetic gene clusters is preferred. Must have programming skills and in-depth knowledge of the software available for analyzing large sequencing data sets. Must have the ability to work well both independently and in collaboration with lab members.
