A full-time postdoctoral Research Associate position in environmental sustainability is available in the group of Dr. Alison Cupples in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Michigan State University. Dr. Cupples research seeks to develop bioremediation approaches to address groundwater contamination.
The ideal applicant will have expertise with analytical methods (e.g. GC), molecular methods, bioinformatic analyses and pipelines and R programming. Experience in statistical approaches for analyzing complex molecular datasets is desirable. The candidate will be expected to assist in the training and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students and writing research proposals. Dr. Cupples will work closely with the successful candidate in a collaborative lab environment to develop the project and help the trainee achieve their career goals. The appointment will initially be for one year.

Doctorate -Environmental Microbiology
Has a PhD degree in microbiology or environmental engineering with a solid understanding of bioinformatics and molecular biology tools
A strong track record of refereed journal publications
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong written and oral communication skills
Expertise with analytical methods (e.g. GC), molecular methods, bioinformatic analyses and pipelines and R programming.
Ability to supervise graduate and undergraduate researchers.
