The department of Pediatrics is recruiting for a Pediatric Metabolic Geneticist. We are looking for a candidate who has experience and/or will have had specialized training in the area of metabolic genetics and is eager to lead and support a Metabolic Genetics Program that is an intricate part of the Regional New York State Newborn Screening Center(NBS) in Buffalo, New York.

The Division of Genetics runs an active outpatient metabolism, dysmorphology and genetic counseling program, while supporting the inpatient units, Maternal Fetal Center and multidisciplinary clinics at Oishei Children's Hospital (OCH). The Division has three BC MDs, one PhD, one RD and genetic counselors.

Duties/Responsibilities: Clinical Services will be provided as inpatient consultation for children admitted to Oishei Children's Hospital and outpatient care in our pediatric multispecialty clinic in conjunction with dietitian, genetic counselors. The successful candidate will have experience in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of children with genetic conditions and a proven record of excellent clinical care in a patient- and family-centered environment. The successful applicant will be an academic physician who will exhibit a balanced commitment to clinical care, education and/or bench research. This position will offer the potential research opportunities with protected times and depending on the qualifications of the applicant, the position may also be classified as tenured or non-tenured track.

Oishei Children's Hospital and the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences are located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus (BNMC), a consortium of the region's premier health care, life sciences research and medical education institutes, all located on 120 acres in downtown Buffalo. This promotes strong interactions with the Clinical and Translational Research Center, the institute for Healthcare Informatics and the New York State Center of Excellence for Bioinformatics and Life Sciences including the Buffalo Institute for Genomics and Data Analytics, Center for Computational Research and Hunter James Kelly Research Institute. This proximity provides outstanding research opportunities in metabolism, genetics, genomics and bioinformatics. 

The candidate will hold a medical degree and be board eligible/certified in Medical Genetics. Board-certified in Pediatrics. 

Dual board certificated in clinical genetics and clinical biochemical genetics is preferred.
