The goal of the NeuroGenomics and Informatics Group is to understand the biology of neurodegeneration by using high-dimensional omic data and functional genomic approaches.
The Neurogenomics and Informatics group is looking for a Scientific Writer to work directly with the center director. The Scientific Writer will be responsible for the oversight and administration of multiple research projects progress report and manuscript writing, and publication, coordination of the activities of a multidisciplinary team, or interfaces with multiple levels of the organization and external entities to ongoing and future projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Grant preparation and writing, including research sections and progress reports.
Assists the Endowed Chair and collaborators with the development of scientific and administrative sections of grants.
Preparation and writing of research abstracts and journal articles.
Assists the Endowed Chair and collaborators with drafting, writing, editing, and galley-proofing of abstracts and article for publication.
Facilitate large interinstitutional collaborations.
Will actively participate and organize meetings for large collaborative projects; establishes/enhances various contactsâ™, and contact with other centers and research groups to facilitate collaboration and exchange of information.
Advanced data analysis.
Responsible for independent data analysis of advanced research topics to be presented to the Endowed Chair and collaborators.
Research development plan for the Center.
Assists the Endowed Chair and collaborators in the design and development of new and current research programs.
Excellent administrative skills.
Experience with research in human genetics is highly preferred.
Advanced knowledge of computer applications.
Significant experience with word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, database and the internet.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Able to work independently and manage multiple assignments with various levels of priority.
Attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
Master's degree in an appropriate scientific discipline is required.
$49,000.00 - $83,800.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
