The Institute of Neuroimmune Pharmacology at Seton Hall seeks to hire a creative and productive researcher to develop and supervise the INIP research projects by integrating in vivo animal, in vitro cell culture and in silico network meta-analysis to study systemic infection, alcohol use disorders, drug addiction, pain management, neurodegenerative diseases and HIV associated dementia at molecular, cellular and systemic levels. Oversees all phases of the experiments, plans and conducts research projects, disseminates and publishes research articles in consultation with the Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Developing and supervising experimental protocols for systemic infection, alcohol use disorders, drug addiction, pain management, neurodegenerative diseases and HIV associated dementia at molecular, cellular and systemic levels at INIP.
Oversee and conduct the tissue preparation, cell culturing, RNA-sequencing, 16S rRNA sequencing, immunohistochemistry, qRT-PCR and PCR array processing, flow cytometry, DNA methylation quantification, gene editing using CRISPR-Cas9 approach, network meta-analysis using various bioinformatics tools including Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA), various rodent behavioral assessment, and data acquisition and analysis for experiments at the INIP.
Prepare and publish the research articles of molecular biology, neuroscience, immunology, pharmacology, physiology, and pathology at the INIP.
Routine planning of research methodology, conducting research projects, analyzing and implementing research techniques in consultation with the Director.
The Research Associate Director will maintain a regular plan/file which will include a timeline of projected progress as well as the research updates and communicate with the Director regularly. In addition, he/she will provide daily communication with the Director, participate in weekly INIP staff meetings and monthly research presentation meetings. Observe and abide by both the general and special laboratory safety and security rules, including but not limited to radiation safety regulation, animal use and care protocols, and other responsible conduct of research.
Doctoral Degree (PHD or MD in biomedical/biochemical sciences), a minimum of 15 years of experience as a research project leader, and extensive experience in preparation for federal grant application are required.
