Neuroradiologist – UMass Memorial Medical Center &
UMass Medical School
UMass Memorial Medical Group, the clinical partner of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is seeking ABR and Neuroradiology CAQ certified/eligible radiologist. The Department of Radiology at UMass Memorial Medical Center www.umassmed.edu/radiology performs over 800,000 studies per year, across five hospitals and an outpatient imaging center. Current faculty include 70 fellowship trained Radiologists, all practicing in organ or modality-based divisions, including a 24/7/365 Emergency Radiology Division. The department trains 5 Residents per year (20 total).
The Neuroradiology division interprets over 55,000 studies per year, from 7 MRIs and 9 CTs across the UMass system.
All imaging is interpreted via an enterprise-wide PACS system (AGFA and TeraRecon) integrated into an EPIC EMR. We support a robust automated critical results communications system and a reading-room coordinator to minimize disruptions to the Radiologists' work-flow. Full-time faculty have the option to work from home on average of one day per week, as well as working evening and some weekend shifts from home.
The Division is currently comprised of 8 faculty members. There are 2 ACGME accredited Neuroradiology fellowship positions, and an MRI fellow who devotes 50% effort to neuroradiology. Areas of clinical focus include:
Stroke imaging including perfusion
Adult tumor imaging
Advanced Neuroimaging including DTI and BOLD imaging
Head and neck tumors
The Neuroradiology Division works in close collaboration with our internationally recognized Neurointerventional division (NIR) which is comprised of four full-time faculty and is supported by a robust NIH and industry funded research program via our New England Center for Stroke Research (NECStR) and Advanced MRI Core (with a 3T Philips Achieva and a 7T Bruker MRI). In addition, we have close collaborations with both Neurology and Neurosurgery as well as with UMass Medical School's NeuroNexus Institute, https://www.umassmed.edu/NeuroNexus which links multiple areas of neuroscience, neuroimaging, and informatics with a particular focus on translation gene therapy for neurodegenerative diseases.
UMass Memorial Health is the largest health care system in Central Massachusetts. We are the clinical partner of UMass Medical School, with access to the latest technology, research and clinical trials. In addition to our fully equipped medical centers, our system also includes home health and hospice programs, behavioral health programs and community-based physician practices.
