The research lab of Dr. Adelaiye-Ogala, within the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology Oncology is actively seeking a Postdoctoral Associate. The research is deeply focused on investigating underlying mechanisms driving therapeutic resistance in genitourinary cancers with emphasis on prostate cancers and leveraging information gained to identify optimal therapeutic strategies to better manage the disease. The lab uses multi-omics approaches combined with preclinical experimental data in clinically relevant cell lines and patient derived organoids to gain mechanistic insights into drivers of lethal disease. In addition, the lab provides tools for precision medicine and evaluates new treatment modalities in preclinical settings. Advanced bench techniques used in the lab includes; 2D and 3D chromatin profiling (ChIP-seq, AQUA-HiChIP-seq/HiChIP), RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP)-seq, RNA-seq, clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated 9 (CRISPR/Cas9), shRNA, High-throughput drug screening and animal studies. Other traditional bench techniques used includes; western blot, PCR/qRT-PCR, 2D and 3D cell cultures, and histology/IHC.
Primary responsibilities include:
Develop and perform experiments to elucidate molecular mechanisms
Development and maintenance of patient derived xenografts and organoids
Data collection and analysis of high-throughput sequencing data
Evaluate therapy-induced/dose responses in cell lines, organoids and preclinical animal models
Present scientific findings at department seminars, regional and national meetings
Write scientific manuscripts, reports and research proposals
A successful candidate for this position is a highly motivated and exceptionally organized team player with good communication skills. Strong language and writing English skills are also important. Qualitative research knowledge, proven experience in collaborating across disciplines, and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently is a plus. Applicants should have demonstrated outstanding performance throughout their previous studies with their own publications.

A PhD in biomedical sciences, cancer pharmacology, computational biology or related fields
A PhD degree with robust background in molecular biology is essential, and experience in 2D and 3D cultures, preclinical animal studies and traditional laboratory techniques highlighted above
Experience in ChIP, HiChIP, RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) and RNA based experiments, shRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 assays
Use of computational tools for seq data analysis is an advantage.
