The Bradburd Lab at Michigan State University is looking for a postdoc to join the lab and work on NIH-funded research developing statistical methods in spatial population genetics. Possible projects include: using pedigrees to estimate population density landscapes; two-locus models for the analysis of spatial population structure over genealogical strata; spatial models for identifying adaptive introgression or studying polygenic adaptation.
The position is ideal for someone with training in statistical, theoretical, or computational population genetics, and/or someone with a strong background in statistical computing and an interest in population genetics. Research in the Bradburd Lab combines computational and statistical approaches, with a strong emphasis on empirical data analysis.
The position is available for up to three years (starting at 1 year, with annual review before renewal), with a competitive salary and full benefits. Given the uncertainties surrounding the state of the pandemic, the successful candidate may work remotely (i.e. “ghostdoc”), at least for the first year of the position, and possibly beyond. The position is available in January 2022, but the start date can be flexible for the right candidate.
