The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Technician B to join our team in a full time position within the Division of Molecular Genetics. Columbia University Medical Center???s Department of Pediatrics is a world leader in providing care for children. Our mission areas include Healthcare, Education and Research. We offer care for our patients in over 25 specialty areas as well as individualized care for complex cases. Our Residency, Fellowship and Graduate programs are among the best in the Nation. Our Clinical, Translational and Basic Science research features collaborations across specialties and stretches from the bench to bedside. We also have several active Clinical trials available to our patients.
Recruitment and retention of research participants into genetic research studies that include the return of participant specific results. Recruitment duties will involve recruitment through a variety of different methods of mail, phone, and in person recruitment at various locations throughout the hospital campus.
Enter data into the study data base and attend team meetings.
Any other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor???s degree in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
Prior experience with obtaining informed consent for genetic research/testing with IRB training and HIPAA training is preferred.
Advance skills in excel with the ability perform calculations and present data in graphs is preferred.
Experience working with IRB systems, navigating medical records and RedCap databases is preferred.
Fluent in Spanish with the ability to read and write preferred.
Experience with working as a research team with excellent communication is required.
Should be organized, thorough, maintain good records, and able to work independently.
Should have basic computer skills and be able to use Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
