Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a part time Temporary Research Assistant for Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI), the candidate will engage in parasitology research related activities. The candidate will be responsible for molecular biology, protein purification, enzymatic assays, IC50 determination, tissue culture, animal work, microscopy and maintaining a detailed laboratory notebook. Duties will also include general laboratory maintenance.
Among the key duties of this position are the follow:
Protein expression and purification.
Enzymatic assays and IC50 determination.
Rodent (mouse and rat) surgeries, injections and colony maintenance.
Mosquito colony maintenance, infections with Plasmodium parasites and dissections.
General molecular biology, tissue culture and cell biological techniques.
Light, fluorescent and confocal microscopy.
Data collection and management, maintaining a detailed laboratory notebook.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree. Prior experience with parasitology research and animal work is strongly encouraged.
