This group is a part of an NIH supported, internationally collaborated Reactome project, the most comprehensive, open source biological pathway knowledgebase, widely used in the community for Systems Biology data analysis and visualization. The research software developer will be working on the software tool for Reactome curators to annotate biological pathways, software pipelines that are used to manage the quality of the curated content and automate the curation process. The developer will also be working on the Reactome-IDG portal project, and participating in research projects related to pathway- and network-based data analysis and visualization for cancer and other complicated disease using large-scale omics and other types of data.
Bachelors Degree with courses in computer science and biology and 1 - 3 years of experience
Extensive and solid Java programming experience and object-oriented programming by following standard programming conventions and best practices
Working experience in Linux, apache tomcat, SQL database and/or no-SQL database
Experience of working in a team environment with a distributed source code management system (e.g. GitHub)
Self-motivated, willing to learn new things, and ability to work in a globally distributed team environment
Masters Degree in Bioinformatics or Computer Science with at least 1 year of working experience in the field
Experience with Java Swing
Experience with biological data analysis
Working experience in MySQL and Neo4j databases
Experience with Spring and Hibernate
Experience with Amazon AWS
Some experience with machine learning and R
