1 purpose...to reimagine medicine! We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist with a background in oncology to join our translational research team. The successful candidate will be playing a key role in evaluating new cancer drug candidates in pre-clinical and clinical development. This role will have a direct impact on patient stratification, biomarker development and combination strategies of the Novartis Oncology drug pipeline.
Major responsibilities will include:
* Evaluation and characterization of cellular and pharmacological responses to new drug candidates and drug combinations in a wide variety of cancer cell lines. * Discovery and development of pharmacodynamic and predictive biomarkers for clinical drug candidates. * Perform initial assessment of potential biomarkers using assays such as western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, gene expression profiling, and immune activation assays. * Taking an active part in designing and developing new biological and chemical assays/screens to accelerate the current drug discovery effort. * Application of various genetic and chemical tools to dissect cancer and signal transduction pathways in different cancer models to help elucidate drug mechanisms of action as well as mechanisms that predict sensitivity and/or resistance.
* Articulates key scientific questions, hypothesis generation, and project timeline planning * Provide data analysis and propose designs for next experiments to supervisor * Independently research and implement new lab techniques based on literature * Independently write method and data summary reports * Demonstrate command of cancer biology and/or immunotherapy with ability to apply knowledge in discipline to complete work assignments
