The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to appoint a Postdoctoral Associate starting September 1, 2021 under the supervision of Professor Shady Amin (Lab Website). We encourage applicants with a strong bioinformatics and/or computational biology background who have experience analyzing omics data related to marine microbes or microbiomes. Applicants must have a strong publication record and a capacity to conduct independent, high-quality research. Applicants must hold a PhD in oceanography, marine biology, computational biology, or a related field at the time of appointment.
Our research at the Marine Microbial Ecology Lab focuses on studying microbial interactions between diatoms and heterotrophic bacteria using a variety of omics techniques. Experience in bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing data analysis is mandatory. Experience growing phytoplankton and/or bacteria is desired. Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and scientific creativity are essential.
Researchers at NYUAD have access to state-of-the-art facilities that include NovaSeq, MiSeq Illumina and ion torrent sequencing platforms, and a high-computing cluster in addition to a newly created mass spectrometry facility (NYUAD Core Instruments).
