This position provides independent support to the Principal Investigator (PI) with minimal supervision to accomplish the scientific research goals of the laboratory; to include planning, actual experimentation and analysis of data, and assistance in maintenance of the laboratory. This position is a vital part of the research team of Dr. Kafri. Duties include coordinating multiple, concurrent assignments within a given project or among multiple projects, being extremely proficient and careful in the methods tasks required for performance of our experiments, and being able to quickly master new experimental methods. This position will be required to supervise activities of students and technicians in the Kafri lab, work closely with Dr. Kafri, generate high titer HIV-1 based vectors, develop novel lentiviral vector, study the epigenetic mechanism and signal transduction pathways that regulate gene expression from integrated and episomal HIV-1 and HIV-1 vectors. Testing the therapeutic efficacy of novel HIV-1 based vectors in vivo and evaluating novel approaches to treat HIV-1 and cancer and human genetic diseases in vitro and in vivo are the premise and main purpose of this position.
Education and Experience:
Five years laboratory experience in molecular biology and research studies using animal models. Experience with viral vectors is required, HIV vectors preferred. Experience with epigenetic research and or GPCR signaling is an advantage
