A Postdoctoral Researcher is position now open in the Portland Alcohol Research Center at Oregon Health & Science University working with the following labs: Drs. Angela Ozburn, Tamara Phillips, Rita Cervera-Juanes, Verginia Cuzon-Carlson, and Kathy Grant. Emphasis placed on mentorship, career development, and research. NIH supported pre-clinical research at the Portland Alcohol Research Center is focused on the role of the tetra-partite synapse in the development of excessive drinking.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will be exposed to a wide range of behavioral, molecular, and informatics approaches and expertise in a highly collaborative and productive group. These labs are using several complementary approaches to carry out this work, including clinically relevant alcohol self-administration models, various cutting edge next-generation sequencing approaches (including single-cell tools) and analyses to study gene expression and epigenetic regulation in unique genetic animal models, and use of informatics to guide potential points of intervention using behavioral pharmacology and genomic/epigenomic editing tools.
Some experience with informatics would be helpful as the position will involve extensive informatics work; however, training will be available through Dr. Don Conrads lab and the Bioinformatics Core in addition to the expertise in the labs listed above. PhD in a field of study related to the research
Ability to work occasional nights or weekends
Ability to work with research animals/animal tissues
Background in Behavioral Neuroscience, synaptic communication and/or genetics
Experience in informatics
Experience coding in R
Familiarity with animal behavior
