Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Human Genome Research Institute, National Institutes of Health
A funded postdoctoral position is available in the Developmental Genomics Section of the National Human Genome Research Institute. The Section is run by Dr. Shawn Burgess and the focus of the lab is on the genetics and functional genomics of tissue regeneration and wound healing with an emphasis on hearing regeneration in zebrafish. We are interested in studying the differences between aquatic vertebrates and mammals in their ability to fully regenerate after injury. There are multiple projects available to pursue involving genetic analysis with high-throughput mutagenesis approaches, computational analysis of genomic data at multiple levels of genome organization, and cross-species genome assembly and analysis. Most experiments involve aquatic vertebrates, but mammalian and invertebrat
