Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Department of Radiation Oncology within Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow position is to conduct independent laboratory research under the direction of the principal investigator. The research interest of the Montagna lab is to conduct cancer research affecting a variety of tissues to analyze experiments relative to the understanding of molecular mechanisms of tumor initiation and progression. The Montagna Lab at Rutgers Cancer Institute leverages a number of experimental approaches including single cell genomics by next generation sequencing, in situ single cell analyses of DNA and RNA, and CRISPR gene editing to induce genomic instability and study its consequences on tumor transformation and therapy response. The candidate will have the opportunity to join a highly translational laboratory that seeks to identify underlying mechanisms of tumorigenesis and translate these findings into improved personalized therapeutic strategies for the treatment of breast and cervical cancer.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Works under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
Carries out various experimental and bioinformatics studies in the area of cancer research to analyze experiments relative to the understanding of how genomic instability promotes tumorigenesis. The lab leverages a number of experimental approaches including single cell genomics by next generation sequencing, in situ single cell analyses of DNA and RNA, and CRISPR gene editing to induce genomic instability and study its consequences on tumor initiation, progression and therapy response.
Prepares written reports of research experiments and types.
Prepares grant proposals based on research conducted.
Gives oral presentation of the research.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. Degree in a relevant biology or in the molecular biology area.
Candidates in all-but-degree (ABD) status will also be considered.
